UNESCO has approved the renewal of the UNESCO Chair in Prevention of Violence Against Women, coordinated by Universidad Simón Bolívar (Colombia), for an additional four-year term (2026–2030).

This renewal reflects the work carried out over the years by this university together with partner institutions, researchers, students, and community organizations committed to preventing violence against women and advancing gender equality through education, research, and social engagement.

This renewal is especially meaningful at a time when Latin America, and many other parts of the world, are facing growing anti-rights and anti-feminist narratives. These developments remind us that the progress achieved in gender equality cannot be taken for granted and that there is still much work to be done.
